After wanting to build one for a while, I finally pieced together and built a shoulder rig. A solder rig is used to mount and stabilize a camera for shooting video. The camera is mounted on the rig, then theres a shoulder support and two handles. The rig is mostly for using DSLR’s for shooting video but can also support medium sized camcorders, which is convenient because I hope to use it when shooting for our student film The Laden Avarice in the next couple of weeks.
The rig components are made by Neewer, and in its current setup it features a grip, matte box, follow focus, camera and tripod mount, side rails with shoulder pad, over the top grip, and a 1kg counter weight. Everything on the rig is interchangeable and can be moved freely.
